I finished reading my first ebook today (Kindle). I did not think I would enjoy reading on an electronic device, but I did.
I wasn't expecting so many features:
- reading location sync (syncs on iPhone/iPad and on the Mac)
- notes
- highlights (as well as popular highlights by other users)
- dictionary
The dictionary feature makes it easier for a non native-english reader like me. Just a click on an unknown word et voilà I got a definition right before my eyes. I can continue reading just by taping on the ebook text.
For my next book I'll be reading from Apple's iBook. One feature I'll miss is the black & white layout (white letters) very handy when lights are off in bed. But iBook syncs notes & highlights, not the case on the Kindle.
I'll also got the paperback version of this book. I won't use the iPad or the iPhone on the beach. Not a problem if my book gets water and sand!
English version books are seldom on the iBook Store (France) where you get anything published in the USA on Amazon Kindle's. Arnaud pointed out on my Facebook Publishers are not to be blamed for it. Well it figures of course all the more you can't find any french books (that are not free at least) on the Kindle store.
I guess I'll continue buying from these two according to what is available and where. The euro/dollar exchange rate makes it more interesting buying on Amazon. That may not last.
