AAPL

In last February I had that hunch and bought some Apple stocks.

Future sounded good:

  • a coming iPad
  • a probable new iPhone (proved correct)
  • with a new iPhone OS (also correct)

The stock is going way up. I hope It will stay that way.

#mac #application TextExpander a must-have tool

TextExpander saves you countless keystrokes with customized abbreviations for your frequently-used text strings and images.

They are right. This application really ease the typing accross all applications within the Mac OS X environment. Endless phrases can be "pasted" only by typing a few letter shortcut.

Some examples that work for me:

ddate -> Thursday March 4 2010
reg; -> Regards,
ssing -> my business email signature in rich text

And a lot more.

I have been using that tool for three years now and it would be really painful now not having it.

If you're working with a computer that's a Mac (my case) I would strongly advice you to try TexExpander.

Chrome for Mac

Google Chrome web browser has an increasing interest to me. Sure it's fast, the extensions are good, but there was one thing missing so far: a 1Password extension.

1Pasword is one of my everyday favorite Mac software that would store and type your web passwords. It's only a great way to store your software licence numbers and, for those who dare, an easy access to your wallet (credit card data).

Chrome for Mac with extensions is still a beta, but good. As for the extension a mere alpha, but, working. The extension does not yet include a keyboard shortcut to auto-type usernames/passwords. Still it's good.

Netvibes' Wasabi

I really am in love with Netvibes new Wasabi format (reader view).

Have a look at what they've achieved with rss-feed photo view format.

Feeds are updated in near real-time.

Great work!

Gmail slowing down?

Working on Google App / Gmail my experience is that this service is slowing down.

For the last several months Google has deployed Labs gadgets et themes. This has compelled their servers to compute a lot more to deliver Gmail mailboxes to the end user the ways he might want it to be rendered.

So far I am unsure the slow down I am experiencing* is due to these lab & theme features but the slow down is here.

Do you experience it too?

* long load, slow à delivering emails. This is compared to our own server system (we are web-hosters we have bandwidth more than we need).
